In his many roles, Mr. Medlin served his community as a funeral director and a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a longtime farmer and a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and seven siblings. At the time of his death, he was 69. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, at 11 a.m. in Shives Funeral Home Colonial Chapel.

At Charlie Medlin’s memorial service at Shives Funeral Home, friends and family gathered to celebrate his life. The service was conducted by Rev. William Clements. The Reverends Johnny Branch and William Clements officiated. Pallbearers included Christopher Hawkins, Lt. Andrew Byrd, and Brandon Byrd. Memorial contributions were accepted for the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church.

After a brief illness, Betty Jo White Medlin passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010. She was 76 years old. Born in Arkansas, she was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She is survived by her son Dwain D. Medlin, daughter Timberly M. and George D. Enete, and grandson Avery Enete. Betty Jo is predeceased by her husband Alva D. Medlin, and her parents, Orene McHenry White and Mary Jane Brown.

On April 23, 2022, Mr. Charlie Medlin passed away from natural causes. He was 69 years old and lived in Elgin, South Carolina. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Shives Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with the Reverend Otis Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Spears Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home prior to the service.

After the news of Charlie’s death was announced at Shives Funeral Home, the family has been awaiting the announcement of his funeral arrangements. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. Charlie’s family would like to hold a memorial service for him in his hometown of Kerens, Louisiana. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War I. He also belonged to the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Kerens. He was buried at the city cemetery in Kerens, Louisiana.

A viewing for Mr. Medlin will be held at Shrives Funeral Home on Friday, January 29. He was 76 years old. Born in Arkansas, he was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his son Dwain D. Medlin and daughter Timberly M. and George D. Enete, along with granddaughter Avery. He is also survived by his mother, Laura Sue Ford, and brother, Toni Ford. He was preceded in death by his father, Orene McHenry White.

Walter “Buddy” Eugene Medlin passed away on April 20, 2005. He was 84. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Shives Funeral Home Colonial Chapel. Reverend Otis Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spears Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Upon arrival at the funeral home, the family will greet friends.
