Norida Lou Prater Conley, 80, of Carleton, Michigan formerly of Magoffin County, Kentucky

Norida Lou Prater Conley, formerly of Magoffin County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2018 in Carleton, Michigan. Born May 4, 1938, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, she was the wife of Orville Maloy Conley, who preceded her in death. Norida Lou Prater was also a mother of M.H. Prater and Emma Rose Johnson.

Betty Rudd Marshall, 87, of Salyersville, Kentucky

Betty Rudd Marshall, 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. She was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky, on October 27, 1947. She also leaves behind two brothers, Billy Rudd of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Jerry Rudd of Puncheon, Kentucky. Her grandchildren include Dylan Marshall. The funeral service for Betty Rudd Marshall will take place on Friday, August 18, at 11 am. The service will be conducted by Greg Minix, with burial at Rigsby Cemetery at Bee Tree, Kentucky.

During her lifetime, Betty and Bill lived in their country cottage on the Betsie River. Betty and Bill were drawn to the beauty of the up-north location and carved a crawlspace into the basement of the cottage. Later, Betty’s children helped them build an addition on the house, giving them the best view of the river. Betty’s family and neighbors will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Marshall had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a leader in the 4H club and a charter member of the Waterloo Historical Society. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren are also left to mourn her passing. Betty is also survived by her brothers David Boren, Pamela Carroll, and Cheryl Boren.

Billy Cole, 87

On Monday, January 31, at 7pm, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Billy. The Rev. Garland Rudd will officiate. The funeral home is accepting memorial contributions. If so, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank all of her family and friends for their loving support and prayers. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Billy’s name to the charity of your choice.

Judy Cole, 87, is survived by her son Gary Truax, daughter-in-law Rachelle Bronson, and grandson Scott, David, and Andrew. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and several grandchildren. Herb Cole was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Danny Ray and Earlin. He will be buried at Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Ethel Rigsby, 87

The funeral for Ethel Rigsby, 77, of Carver passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011, in the Magoffin County Funeral Home. She was born August 4, 1915, in Royalton, Kentucky. Her parents were Peter and Willie Cole Williams. She is survived by six children, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., with burial in the Lee Rigsby Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit the cemetery.

Visitation for Ethel will be from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Rose Hill Burial Park. Pastor Larry Collins of the Full Gospel Fellowship will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Richards-Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. The family suggests that friends send flowers to the funeral home. They may also wish to consider a memorial in Ethel’s honor.

Larry Carpenter, 87

Besides his wife, he was also survived by his stepfather, Cecil Gibbs. During his final months, he was accompanied by his stepmother, Genevieve Provost. Other survivors of his life include his stepchildren, Paul Ero and Sierra Duquette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to the St. Peters Church Rectory or the Kiwanis Club of Plattsburgh.

A funeral service for Mr. Carpenter will be held on Wednesday at Magoffin County Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jeff Slider. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tues from 4 to 7 p.m. until the time of the service. The family is asking friends to make an online condolence in lieu of flowers.

Cleda White, 87

The family of Connie Sue White of LaGrange, Illinois, has announced the passing of the grandmother of seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, three brothers and her sister, Imogene Caldwell. Services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2017 at Magoffin County Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Minix officiating. Burial will follow at Connelley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday after 7 p.m., or anytime prior to the service.

A funeral service will be held for Cleda White, 87, at Magoffin County Chapel at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 10. Greg Minix and Ollie Coldiron will officiate. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and Sunday from noon until the hour of service. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after visiting on Sunday.
